- Telecommunication and network technologies, on the basis of which the Local and Regional Academies of Cisco NTUU “KPI” are formed. In 2010, a NATO grant provided a set of state-of-the-art CISCO laboratory equipment for CCNP and CCNS computer network training;
- Computerized control systems for technical facilities and processes based on industrial controllers: Siemens, Mitsubishi, Schneider, National Instruments, and other manufacturers.
Laboratory of tools for analysis, design and implementation of software systems;
- Laboratory of OSS-systems design. In 2007, the KPI-NETCRACKER Research and Training Center was opened at the department with the assistance of NetCracker, a world leader in the development of operational support systems for telecommunications operators (OSS);
- Laboratory of optimization and administration of converged networks. With the support of PortaOne since 2007, the department has a “Training and Research Laboratory of Converged Network Technologies”, where students learn the theoretical foundations and deepen their knowledge in the transmission of voice messages;
- In 2011, KPI-EPAM Research and Training Center was opened at the department with the assistance of ERAM Systems, the largest provider of software development and decision-making services in the CIS, Central and Eastern Europe;
- In 2011, the Research and Training Laboratory of Industrial Automation was opened;
- Information Technology Laboratory (application integration, automated programming technologies for distributed systems);
- Laboratory of communication technologies. Training in Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), IT-Essentials, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Cisco Network Security;
- Laboratory of Electronics and Microprocessor Technology (study of microcontrollers of the AVR EV8031 family, Texas Instrument EKS-LM3S1968, Analog System Lab Kit Pro, real-time QNX OS);
- Laboratory of Infrastructure (IaaS), Platform (Pass) and Software (SaaS) services;
- Laboratory of computerized control systems (management of technical facilities and technological processes based on industrial controllers National Instruments, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Mikrol, Holitm, etc. Research of technologies “Smart homes”);
- Laboratory of elements and devices of computerized control systems and automation.
In these laboratories, students spend the first half of the day on a schedule, and in the afternoon, if desired, they study relevant modern technologies in the field of telecommunications, computer science, software and administration, deployment and operation of computer networks. Upon graduation, students are given the opportunity to intern in these companies with subsequent employment. Already today the department offers such additional courses and certification programs for everyone:
- CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate), CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional), CCNS (Cisco Certified Network Security);
- IT Essentials-Specialist in Computer Hardware and Software;
- Software developer on NET C#;
- Multimedia transmission technologies;
- Unix user and Internet Service Provider (ISP) administrator;
- Java software developer;
- Administrator of networks and distributed information systems;
- PLC, SCADA programmer.
